In Portugal, in the north of the Serra de Estrela, located
between big rocks of granit, there is a little village called
Feital. Donkeys and goats live here. Allthough water is
rare grapes and figs are growing. The people of the
village cultivate paprika, egg plant and chili peppers.
The daily work of the inhabitants is enriched by the
presence of artists coming from all over the world.
Since 1995 artists are participating in a symposium held
in the studio of Maria Lino called „Temos Tempo“.
They are coming to work in contact with nature and rural
culture. The rough landscape, the silence and time leave
traces in written text, drawing, fotografy, film, installation,
sculpture, Performance and musical composition.
„What means time in a village, where donkeys still tear
the waggons, where stones are arranged to walls
since centuries?.....“ (Susann Becker, 2001).
There is space for people with different backgrounds to
exchange different cultures, techniques and approaches
in art. “....people become closer to each other by their
work. Temos Tempo: we have time. There is richness
in thesilence. There is a being in a stone“ (Maria Lino).
At the end of each Symposium there is an exhibition,
media and people interested in art are invited to come
